About This Place

Nestled in the charming village of Walgrave, Northamptonshire, Manvell Farm Tea Room stands out as a delightful haven for tea lovers and casual diners alike. This enchanting cafe and tea house exudes a warm, welcoming atmosphere that invites guests to unwind and savor some truly exceptional homemade treats.

The highlight here is undoubtedly the Afternoon Tea, served promptly at midday and crafted with genuine care. Picture indulging in a warm, freshly baked scone paired with clotted cream and jam, or delighting in an espresso that perfectly balances boldness and smoothness. Fans of sweet indulgences are spoiled for choice—from the rich ½ and ½ Salted Caramel Cake to the zesty Lemon and Ginger Cake, each morsel bursts with layers of flavor and a moist, tender crumb that lingers pleasantly on the palate.

For something a little savory and unique, the Fig Goat's Cheese Prosciutto and Balsamic Toast is a revelation—combining earthy figs, tangy goat’s cheese, and the robust depth of prosciutto accented by a drizzle of balsamic, creating a harmonious and sophisticated bite. Customers often rave about this thoughtful menu selection, demonstrating the Tea Room’s commitment to both quality and creativity.

The enchanting charm of Manvell Farm Tea Room is not just in its food but also in its genuine hospitality. Elaine Gray calls it “a hidden gem,” highlighting the “warm charming environment” and the “most amazing soup” she enjoyed, complemented perfectly by a birthday surprise of fresh fruit and a candle which added a heartfelt personal touch. Meanwhile, Kevin Millard’s group of cyclists felt welcomed with genuine warmth and appreciated the “brilliant selection of coffee/teas and cake,” as well as hearty bacon and brie sandwiches that were “massive” and satisfying.

It’s clear that the staff here excel at blending efficiency with kindness—making each visit feel like catching up with friends rather than just a meal stop. Douglas Hall notes how even during busy times or when understaffed, the honesty and communication from the team make waiting a seamless part of the experience. The Tea Room’s willingness to be upfront and courteous creates an atmosphere of trust and relaxation whether you come for a quick coffee or a lingering lunch.

Families will be pleased to know there’s a little outdoor play area for toddlers and a spacious baby changing room, making Manvell Farm Tea Room a must-visit for parents seeking a comfortable place to unwind while catering thoughtfully to younger guests. Samantha Drury sums it up perfectly with her enthusiastic “5*+” rating, praising the “amazing food,” fresh sandwiches, and “insane” cakes, while recommending visitors “run, don’t walk” to this special spot.

From its picturesque rural setting to its meticulously crafted menu and heartfelt hospitality, Manvell Farm Tea Room offers much more than a simple cafe experience—it delivers a comforting, memorable moment of joy and indulgence that leaves you eager to return time and again.

What a hidden gem The staff were all so friendly, such a warm charming environment. Beautiful homemade cakes and food. I had the most amazing soup and hubby had a ploughman's.. Honestly best soup I've had in a long time. We had a teacake afterwards which came out with fresh fruit and a candle for my birthday will definately return. Thank you Manvell xx

Stopped by today with a group of a dozen cyclists. So many things to praise about this place, firstly the huge welcome from the lovely staff, then the brilliant selection of coffee/teas and cake. A couple of us had the bacon & brie sandwiches, which were massive, and finally the service, everything brought out to us with a smile and a chat, also great value!. A huge thanks from the U3a cycling group

This is a very lovely location for a meal, great menu and wonderful food. Staff are very freindly and give honest guidance about any delays, the day we visited they were understaffed and we were made aware on arrival of expected delay, so no problem. Again, a great place to go for a morning coffee, lunch or tea. We phoned in the morning to book a table, good idea if likely to be busy.

First time at the tea rooms, had afternoon tea and were very happy with it all, nice bread sandwiches and cakes lovely ( my favourite was the mini lemon meringue, really lovely). Saw some scrummy sandwiches going to lunch tables and the salad is something I will try next time I’m there at a lunchtime. Very nice.

A hidden gem. Our second visit. This time with our son, daughter in law and grandson. Firstly the service is excellent. The staff are very accommodating in every way. Secondly the food is absolutely fantastic and very tasty. Fresh and of very good quality. This time we tried the cakes too. So many to choose from. We couldn't decide and had 2 ½ portions of different cakes. It was lovely that there were also decent and tasty choices for our grandson. Highly recommended for a tasty lunch
